About Volunteering
The HCII2011 Program for Student Volunteers gives full time university students from around the world the opportunity to attend and contribute to one of the most prestigious conferences in the field of computing and human-computer interaction. As an HCII2011 Student Volunteer, you will interact closely with researchers, academics and practitioners from various disciplines, meet other students from around the world, and promote personal and profession growth.
The skills, talents and dedication of the student volunteers contribute to the overall quality of the Conference. The Student Volunteer role involves a range of duties, including, but not limited to:
- providing assistance to the Conference Secretariat staff;
- helping and directing other Conference participants; and
- contributing to the overall smooth running of the Conference functions and social events.
Qualifications
The volunteer should:
- Be enthusiastic, reliable, and intelligent with strong interpersonal skills.
- Have experience and/or strong interest in Human-Computer Interaction.
- Be fluent in English, which is the language of the Conference.
- Be reliable, punctual and organized.
- Be a self-starter.
To Apply
To be considered as a Student Volunteer for the HCII2011 Conference, you need to login and apply online through the Conference Management System (CMS). In order to login, you need to have a CMS account.
An official letter (in English) from your University or School, duly signed and stamped, indicating your current student status, must be presented when registering at the Conference. You will be required to submit a scanned copy of this letter during the on-line application process.
Acceptance Notification
All applications received by December 31st, 2010 will be reviewed and volunteers selected will be notified by January 28th, 2011.
A reserve list will also be drawn up upon applications received by the preliminary registration deadline, but not initially selected.
Late Applications
Applications received after the deadline will be placed at the end of the reserve list in the order in which they are received. Since previous experience has shown that more students apply than can be accepted, early application is strongly encouraged. However, applicants on the reserve list may also be accepted. Therefore, do not be discouraged if you are applying after the preliminary deadline.
